Persevering & Staying True: 2021 - Present
Although challenges of the prior year had tested the resilience of the congregation, devoted individuals continued to gather with a steadfast desire for spiritual growth and a persevering commitment to serve, spreading God’s message of hope and redemption.
In the late summer of 2022 during a moment of recognition, individuals who had joined the church over the previous 12-13 months stood before the congregation and formed a line stretching across the front of the sanctuary. This was a testimony that congregational membership and the timeless truths of the Bible remained the nucleus for shaping hearts, renewing minds, and winning souls.
Sharing information about our church and extending an invitation for others to join us in worship continues to be the organized focus of our Outreach Team. It is one way of staying true to the mission that began years ago as one man’s vision for reaching the northern end of Madison county for Christ and fulfilling the Great Commission.
Prompted by pastoral leadership, a new ministry of conducting a monthly Sunday worship service at Dominion Senior Living began in November 2022.
For more than three decades “The Greatest Gift,” a live outdoor drama of the Nativity, has been presented on multiple nights prior to Christmas. This holy, evangelistic performance, drawing and watched by hundreds each year, has become a traditional occasion for remembering and celebrating Christ’s birth.
On September 10, 2023 members voted to erect a 60’ cross on church property, physically changing the landscape of our church campus. It was a ministry opportunity envisioned and presented by our pastor, following a return trip from the southern part of the US, where he had observed several white crosses marking the landscape. A special ceremony was held on April 28, 2024, celebrating the exposure of a bedrock foundation upon which the cross would stand.
Today the cross stands tall as a symbol of redemption and a beacon of hope to millions of people who will pass by this church campus each week as they travel on I-75. It stands as a sentinel, joining the stars in lighting up the night sky and pointing toward Heaven.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.” (Psalm 19:1) We pray that all who pass this way will pause, recognize, and receive the “Message of the Cross.”
